The Dairy Building That Was

What was once the Foremost Dairy Building, selling milk and sweet treats in the hay day of Tacoma, soon became an abandoned building like so many others.  On the corner of 25th and Pacific Avenue it sat.  But in the summer of 2010, we started to notice what looked like a fresh start for this building.

But first let us take a look at the building in it’s early stages in July of 2008. (image courtesy of Google Maps)

Slowly but surly in 2010, we started to notice fences going up and improvements happening.

The building was compleated in the summer of 2011.  Recently, the building was also awarded LEED certification.  Read the full story from The News Tribune here.  What a beautiful final product.

The building now houses a social security office and has space for retail tenants. It no longer holds cream, but the renovators have left a commemorative sign on the side, that reflects the original. “Milk – Foremost Dairies – Ice Cream”
